Coming in May 2013-
Join an ABF in May. It’s a great time to join because on May 5, 2013 all ABFs will be beginning at study of the Minor Prophets:
Be Amazed – Restoring an Attitude of Wonder and Worship by Warren Wiersbe. Wiersbe’s “Be” Series on the Old Testament—Practical, devotional, and concise describes the “Be” series. Each of these mini-commentaries contains a wealth of practical insight into God’s Word.
This resource provides commentary on the books of six minor prophets: Hosea, Joel, Jonah, Nahum, Habakkuk and Malachi. These books are viewed by biblical scholars as the Minor Prophets. Yet the insights and messages contained with these books are anything but minor. These prophets offer a unique, firsthand view of an all-powerful God who longs to intimately connect with His people. This study examines the prophets’ personal stories to discover how He interacts with our world in truly amazing ways.
“To be surprised, to wonder, is to begin to understand.” —Ortega y Gasset
We live in a world filled with artificial marvels, and too many of us have forgotten how to Be Amazed
The neglected writers called “The Minor Prophets” call us back to a life of amazement and achievement as they remind us of:
- God’s jealous love (Hosea) The man who married a prostitute so he could demonstrate the love of God for His people.
- God’s glorious kingdom (Joel) The Day of the Lord is coming, and the world stands unprepared!
- God’s gracious long-suffering (Jonah, Nahum) Can anybody run away from God? Does God close His eyes when nations sin?
- God’s righteous judgment (Habakkuk) God calls a wicked nation to punish His own people for their sins!
- God’s contemptuous people (Malachi) Are we taking God’s blessings for granted? Are we giving the Lord our best?
The messages of these six Minor Prophets point the way to an attitude of wonder and worship that can transform your life.
Getting involved in an ABF will give you the opportunity to know others and will give others a chance to get to know you as you study God’s Word together.
Why should I get involved?
Country Oaks has become a large church and it is too easy to get “lost in the crowd.” Getting involved in a smaller group, like a Sunday morning ABF or a weekly Community Group or Bible Study will give you the opportunity to get to know others and will give others a chance to get to know you! You’ll be studying God’s Word as you develop meaningful relationships with others.
How do I choose the Sunday Morning Group that’s right for me?
It’s easy! Find the group where you feel you’ll best fit in for now. Currently our classes are based on age, but we are growing. We’ll be adding new groups that will be formed to meet the needs of Country Oaks’ people.
When and Where Do the Sunday Morning Fellowship Groups meet ?
Currently we meet Sunday mornings during each worship service. We gather out back, behind the main building in the 300 Buildings and in the chapel. There, we’ll enjoy an hour of God’s Word, fellowship, food and coffee together.
