FOR THE WOMEN

Fall 2020:

Sermon on the Mount

Join us for this study by Jen Wilkin as we explore the Sermon on the Mount and how it shows us what the life of a Christ-follower should look like. The book is $10, available in the church office.

This year we’ll have 3 options of study:

1) Thursday mornings @ 9:30am: Childcare will be available for  ages 5 and under. Starts September 10.

2) Wednesday evenings @ 6pm: No childcare. Starts September 9.

3) One-on-one: For those who can’t go out at this time, we hope you will pick a friend to do the study with and discuss the questions at the end of each chapter together each week (on the phone, Zoom, or any other avenue you choose). We will try to help match those who are looking for a study partner.

If you have any questions, contact Pat See or call the church office at 661.822.1379.

National Day of Prayer 2020

Thursday, May 7th

This year’s theme: Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.”
Habakkuk 2:14

The National Day of Prayer may look a little different this year, but one thing we can do no matter where we are, is pray. So wherever you are on Thursday, May 7th, we encourage you to take some time and pray for our nation. Call a friend or video chat with a small group and pray together that God’s glory would shine out across the earth.

You can also tune in to the NDP National Broadcast on May 7th from 8 -10pm Eastern Time (5-7pm Pacific Time)

2020 NATIONAL PRAYER FOR AMERICA

Kathy Branzell
President, National Day of Prayer Task Force

Lord, we exist to give You glory. We exist

because of Your glory, and in Your glory, as

our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. We

give you thanks and praise for every breath

and moment You have given to us. We

repent of our sin; for the shameful things

we have done against You and for our

silence when we did not speak up to

proclaim Your Name, profess Your Word,

or protect and practice Your will.

We ask Your forgiveness.

We pray that the knowledge of the glory of

the Lord will spread across our nation and

the entire earth as we seek Your Kingdom

and righteousness; as we walk in

obedience to You, and in humble unity,

love one another. Jesus, the Bible says that

You are “the knowledge of the glory of the

Lord.” You have taught us to pray,

commanded us to love, and commissioned

us to share Your gospel of grace. Your

glory fills our hearts and families, it

overflows into our neighborhoods,

workplaces, campuses, churches, in our

entertainment and media. We give thanks

for our military and ask that Your glory

would spread to, and through them as they

preserve freedom around the world. We

pray for our government, that all of our

leaders and laws would be filled with Your

glory, that they would magnify Your Holy

Word and honor Your will and ways. We

pray that Your grace and glory would

spread to bring hope to the hopeless, and

love where there is hurt and hate. God, use

us as we pray your promise, that “the earth

will be filled with the knowledge of the

glory of the Lord as the waters

cover the sea.” In Jesus Name, Amen!

Music Ministry

The purpose of the worship ministry at COBC is not just about music and what takes place within the musical aspect of worship. It’s about living a life of worship 24/7 – at our jobs, in our relationship world, in our financial world, in the way we spend our time, AND in the communion of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Therefore, I urge you brothers (and sisters), in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of you mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will
–Romans 12:1-2

If you are skilled in playing an instrument or singing, and you would like to help lead in worship from stage, there’s a place for you. We practice on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm. Please join us. To learn more, you can call Thomas at the church office or email him at thomas@countryoaks.org.

Dress A Girl Around the World at COBC

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Dress a Girl Around the World Ministry is a group of ladies from COBC and the community, that meet once a month and sew dresses for God’s precious girls that live in poverty around the world. We believe each girl should have a new dress that gives them dignity, respect, hope and shows they are loved by God. We also have a wonderful time of fellowship and fun.

Dress a Dude ministry (based in Santa Cruz, CA) was started because we wanted the BOYS in developing countries to feel the love of Jesus, and to know they are valued and important as well as the girls who receive a dress. We make shorts in all different sizes for the boys. If you don’t sew but would like to help, we need tee shirts so the boys will receive a complete outfit.

We will teach anyone how to sew a dress. We have sewn over 900 dresses that have been taken to 24 countries around the world, by people going on short term mission trips. Our goals are to always glorify God. Join us as we continue to sew hundreds of beautiful dresses and encourage other ladies to join us in serving others.

We meet the second Thursday of the month at Country Oaks Baptist Church at 4-8pm, share a potluck dinner and sew. For more information contact Margo Amero at 661-619-1493.

Prayer at Country Oaks

Prayer Team on Sunday Mornings

If you have a Prayer Request, please fill in the back of your Welcome Home/Connection Card on Sunday mornings and turn it in to the offering plate. The Prayer Team prays over the prayer requests during the second Worship Service. If your request is not marked “confidential,” it will be forwarded to the Prayer Chain on Monday. Confidential Requests will be forwarded to the pastors only. Need prayer during the week? Please email your request to: prayerchain@countryoaks.org.

Prayer Chain

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”   (Philippians 4:6)

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”    (Ephesians 6:18)

Need Prayer?  Please email prayerchain@countryoaks.org !

Prayer

The mission of the Country Oaks Baptist Church Prayer Chain Ministry is to lift up the urgent prayer needs of our members/regular attendees and their families and friends before our all powerful and sovereign God.

The Word of God exhorts the body of believers to be prayer intercessors for one another.  The prayer chain is based on the strong belief in the power of prayer and the profound impact that it can have on lives.

Once a prayer request enters the Prayer Chain, about thirty men and women are notified by either phone and/or email. Each then immediately sends prayers to Our Heavenly Father.

Prayer support can be requested by emailing the prayer chain coordinator at any time.  If you put a request on the prayer chain, it is your responsibility to update the prayer chain coordinator on that request. If you would like more information on the COBC Prayer Chain Ministry, would like to become a part of this ministry or would like to send a prayer request, please contact Caroline Robison at prayerchain@countryoaks.org

“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;” (Romans 12:12).

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” (Colossians 4:2).
