Nathan Hiner, Associate Pastor
Nathan Hiner moved to Tehachapi when he was 9 years old and has lived in Tehachapi for most of his life since then. He was raised at Country Oaks Baptist Church but didn’t really adopt the faith to be his own until he was in college. After dabbling into what the world had to offer in college, God changed Nathan’s heart to fall deeply in love with Him and His word. Nathan graduated college with his undergrad degree in biblical studies from Life Pacific College in 2009. It was during this time that Nathan first felt the call to full-time ministry.
While finishing up college, Nathan started dating Sarah Davis. Sarah also grew up in Tehachapi and was long-time family friends with the Hiner family. Nathan and Sarah quickly fell in love with each other and were married in 2010. During this time Nathan and Sarah grew in their love for the Lord and the Church. It was also during this time that Nathan felt the call to go into full-time ministry grow stronger.
After spending time as an intern at Country Oaks, Nathan’s calling to ministry was confirmed by the elders. Nathan was encouraged by the elders to continue his education by finding a seminary to attend. Nathan took a part-time position as Director of Student Ministries at the Church as he continued his education. He started Seminary in 2011 and graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2014 with a Master’s of Divinity. In the fall of 2014 Nathan was hired on as Associate Pastor at Country Oaks Baptist Church.
Nathan and Sarah are proud parents of a little girl named Autumn Grace Hiner (born 10/9/14) and a little boy Augustine Reed Hiner (born 5/7/16). They both love the mountains and think Tehachapi is one of the best places in the world to live. They enjoy more than anything else just spending time together as a family. Their newfound hobby is going on bike rides as a family. Sarah loves being a wife, mommy, and nurse. Nathan loves basketball, photography and reading.
