Here at Country Oaks, we are committed to promoting family worship and spiritual growth within the home. This does not stop once students reach Junior High and High School. Our Student Ministry is focused on coming alongside, not replacing, parents in evangelizing to and discipling students. Ultimately, the goal of COBC Student Ministries is to help parents raise mature Christians who know what they believe and why they believe it. 

High School Ministry

We meet on Thursday nights in the Grove starting around 6:30pm. This fall we will be diving into Colossians!

What’s Going on for Junior High Schoolers?

 

Junior High Bible Study

Junior High During the School Year

In the fall, winter and spring Trek Junior High School Bible Study meets at the church on Wednesdays at 6:00pm (same time as AWANA). All Junior Highers are welcome, even if you’ve never been a part of AWANA.  Start date is in September 6, 2017 at 6:00pm at the church and we continue through May of 2018.  Cost is $25 for a tee shirt and Bible Study book.   If money is an issue, please contact Nathan Hiner.  The Junior High Bible Study follows the AWANA schedule which typically takes the last Wednesday of the month off. We start in the chapel so come at 6:00pm and look for Nathan.

What do we offer for Junior High School Teens?

  • Every Sunday morning we meet in The Grove at 9:00am for Sunday School.
  • Trek Junior High School Bible study meets on Wednesday evenings at 6pm at the church from September through May. All 7th and 8th graders are welcome even if you’ve never been a part of AWANA.  Small groups and teaching time will be based off the Bible Study book.
  • We take the holidays off but every year we have a great Christmas Party.
  • COBC does not have “Youth Group.”  Please see Pastor Brent’s explanation below.

Senior Pastor Brent Whitney Explains His Vision for Our Teens

The pastors have decided to use the resources of the church to promote family worship and spiritual growth within the home by equipping parents to be the “pastors of the home.” Therefore, we do not offer a weekly “youth group” or a place for teens to “hang out” at church. Instead, we encourage teens to socialize and fellowship with all Christians, young and old alike so that they can benefit from the wisdom of more mature believers and grow in humility and gentleness as they minister to the needs of little children. Though we are not against age segregated fellowship, we believe that the church should play a more limited role in providing such opportunities.
